Symphony Fantastique

My wife and I went to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra yesterday. Very good! It’s neat to see a world class (and they just wrapped up a European tour) orchestra right here in Pittsburgh. They played Hary Janos, a hungarian piece; a violin concerto by Prokofiev; and Sheherezade by Rimsky-Korsakov.

The Prokofiev concerto featured Leila Josefewicz, and she was very, very good. We met her afterward and disappointingly, she seems a bit jaded and bored with audiences. Too bad! Considering how hard it is to get people interested in classical music, I would have thought she’d be a bit more friendly.

Anyway, it was a great time, and we really enjoyed it!
